In 2002, the National Science Council of Taiwan launched the National Research Program for Genomic Medicine (NRPGM) as a national priority program. The goal of this national program is to capitalize on the knowledge embodied in the human genome in order to promote medical research in Taiwan and also to act as an initiator for the local biomedical industry.
